How Does the Subaru Crosstrek Stack Up to Such Competition as the Toyota Prius v and the Honda CR-V?

Active Billings, MT area drivers love the increased flexibility and capability offered by the burgeoning wagon and crossover SUV segment of vehicles. With a more capacious cargo hold in which to stow all your gear, and comfortable seating for up to five, it's no wonder such a vast number of modern shoppers are flocking to new models such as the Subaru Crosstrek, available here at Rimrock Subaru.

That being said, it's always a smart move to see how the model you have your eye on stacks up when pinned against models from competing brands. To that end, we've taken the liberty of conducting the following comparisons in which we pegged our very own new Subaru Crosstrek against the Toyota Prius v and the Honda CR-V. Take a look below to see how these three offerings compare; then feel free to visit our showroom at your earliest convenience to check out our lineup of new Subaru models up close and in person.

Subaru Crosstrek vs. Toyota Prius v

  • The Toyota Prius v is quite a bit more expensive than a similarly equipped Subaru Crosstrek of the same model year, meaning it could take years to really start reaping the financial benefits of its hybrid fuel efficiency. The Crosstrek is about five thousand dollars less expensive and still gets great fuel economy for a traditional gas-powered crossover of its size.
  • When it comes to power, the Prius v simply cannot hold a candle to the Subaru Crosstrek. While the standard engine offering on the Crosstrek pumps out an impressive 148 horsepower and 145 pound-feet of torque, the Toyota hybrid wagon only manages 98 horsepower and 105 pound-feet of torque.
  • Billings, MT drivers who may occasionally need to tow small loads every now and again will find that the  Crosstrek with its 1500 towing capacity perfectly fits the bill; meanwhile, Toyota does not recommend any amount of towing when operating the Prius v.

Subaru Crosstrek vs. Honda CR-V

  • Value-oriented shoppers will often find that they prefer the Subaru Crosstrek with its affordable MSRP; the Honda CR-V on the other hand, will set you back an additional several thousand dollars.
  • Crosstrek drivers will enjoy a greater degree of maneuverability with its tighter curb to curb turning circle. The Honda CR-V will feel a bit more difficult to Pilot, particularly when navigating packed parking lots or tight garages.
  • All Subaru models regardless of trim come with standard all-wheel drive, the Subaru Crosstrek included. With the Honda CR-V, you'll only get front-wheel drive unless you're willing to fork over some additional cash.
