What makes a three-row SUV truly stand out? For most drivers, it comes down to more than space and performance. If you’re looking for a vehicle that puts safety first without asking you to upgrade to the highest trim, that’s where the 2025 Subaru Ascent shines.

Apart from its stellar 5-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and being one of the IIHS’ 2025 Top Safety Pick, this year’s Subaru Ascent features an improved EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology, Reverse Automatic Braking, and Emergency Stop Assist.

So, if you’re ready to own an SUV this year, check out the Subaru Ascent for sale at Rimrock Subaru and experience stress-free driving.

EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology: Your Second Set of Eyes

Driving is easier when you know your SUV helps you watch the road. Think like a silent yet smart copilot who always has your back at crucial times.

The 2025 Ascent’s EyeSight® system features a set of forward-facing cameras that keep track of road markings and surrounding traffic. This way, you can prevent accidents from happening and make it through your drive stress-free.

Let’s take a closer look at the standout features of the Subaru EyeSight® system.

Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering

Subaru Ascent’s Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering is a driver-assist system that keeps your vehicle at a safe following distance and within the lane. When it detects you’re going off-lane, it gently steers you until you’re back at the center.

It is especially useful to help you stay focused while driving on wide-open roads like those in Billings, Montana.

Automatic Pre-Collision Braking

Part of the standard Eyesight Driver Assist Technology suite of the 2025 Ascent is Automatic Pre-Collision Braking. As the front camera continuously scans the road, it will alert you to any potential collision ahead. It will then apply full braking to prevent collisions.

Automatic Emergency Steering

Working with Subaru Eyesight, this safety feature helps avoid collisions by automatically steering the vehicle when pre-collision braking is not enough at speeds below 50 mph. This way, you can easily navigate away from any road obstruction and avoid an accident.

Pre-Collision Throttle Management

Subaru Ascent’s Pre-Collision Throttle Management works with its automatic braking when it spots a collision hazard. It reduces the engine’s power, giving you extra time to react, lowering the possible impact force and damage to your vehicle.

It also works when you accidentally hit the gas instead of the brake pedal in tight situations, giving you another layer of safety.

DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System

In 2025 alone, drowsy driving contributed to 20% of road collisions and up to 25% of serious and fatal collisions in the US. Knowing this, Subaru integrated its DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System in most Ascent trims.

This system uses an infrared camera on the dashboard near the steering wheel to monitor the driver’s face and eye movements. As soon as it detects wandering attention or drooping eyelids, it alerts you with a gentle reminder to take a break or refocus on the road.

Emergency Stop Assist

One new feature on the 2025 Subaru Ascent’s Eyesight® Driver Assist Technology is the Emergency Stop Assist. It aims to enhance this SUV’s active safety and driver support systems, a hybrid between driver monitoring and automatic driver intervention.

Once the DriverFocus system detects that you’re not responding, it will trigger a warning and engage the Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering features. If there’s still no driver input, the Ascent will send audible chimes and visual alerts, and eventually slow down and completely stop if there is still no driver response.

The Ascent then notifies STARLINK® Emergency Services for help, depending on your subscription level.

Built for Crash Protection

Driver Assist is front and center in the Ascent. But Subaru didn’t forget the basics. With this SUV built on the Subaru Global Platform, you’re assured that it is designed for rigidity and crash energy absorption.

A ring-shaped reinforcement frame surrounds the cabin, offering more structural integrity should a side impact happen. All trims of the Ascent also feature seven airbags (driver’s knee airbag included), whiplash-reducing seat designs, and height-adjustable head restraints

This shows how Subaru engineered the Ascent’s cabin with the safety of everyone in it in mind.

All-Around Awareness: Active Safety in Every Direction

The 2025 Subaru Ascent keeps its promise of 360-degree safety coverage by making two of its safety features standard across all trims: Blind-Spot Detection and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.

Blind-Spot Detection System

The standard Blind-Spot Detection system in the 2025 Ascent works by giving the driver visual indicators on each side of the mirror when it senses a vehicle in its blind spots. Coupled with the Lane Change Assist, you will be alerted when it detects a fast-moving vehicle in the next lane, allowing you to make safer decisions.

Rear Cross-Traffic Alert

No more frequent checks on your side mirror or manual checking for any obstacles on your vehicle’s side as you reverse. Subaru Ascent’s Rear Cross-Traffic Alert alerts you with audible and visual cues on the side where it detects oncoming vehicles, cyclists, or pedestrians.

Reverse Automatic Braking

Now a standard across all trims of the 2025 Subaru Ascent, this feature uses sensors to detect vehicles and/or objects behind it. Your Subaru will continue to alert you as you get closer, and will automatically stop to avoid colliding with whatever obstacle it detects.

Smart Visibility Features

Visibility is crucial, especially when driving on less-than-ideal road conditions. To mitigate this safety risk, the Subaru Ascent 2025 introduced tech that helps you see clearly and safely.

Rear-Vision Camera with Washer

The Ascent’s rear-vision camera with washer, a new feature standard across all trims, works like a second person bidding you to continue reversing. You’ll find this backup camera at the rear of the vehicle.

It activates as you shift your Subaru to reverse, showing you a live video feed on your center display screen. The washer sprays and cleans the camera lens for a clearer view, especially when driving in dust, snow, or mud.

Smart Rear-View Mirror

On Touring and Onyx Edition Touring trims, you’ll find the smart rear-view mirror as a roof-mounted camera at the back of your Subaru, just above the rear window.

But unlike the rear-vision camera, it is an interior mirror that switches between reflective view and digital live feed to show you what’s behind. Since it is positioned above the rear window, you’re assured of an unobstructed view even if the back seat is full.

360-Degree Surround View Mirror

As the name suggests, the Subaru Ascent’s 360-Degree Surround View Mirror shows a real-time, bird’s-eye view video from multiple cameras around the vehicle. You’ll typically find them on the front grille, side mirrors, and rear of the SUV.

Combined with the other mirror features of the 2025 Ascent, this allows you to see the full area around the vehicle when navigating in tight spaces or parking. But it is only available on higher trims.

High Beam Assist

Safety is one primary concern when driving at night. But with the 2025 Subaru Ascent, you’ll feel safer with your night travels as its High Beam Assist feature automatically adjusts between high and low beams depending on oncoming traffic.

This way, you can increase your visibility without blinding other drivers from its glare.

Fog Light Kit

An optional accessory for the Premium 7- and 8-passenger trims, while standard for the higher Subaru Ascent trims, is the Fog Light Kit. It offers more visibility in inclement weather by casting a low and wide beam of light.

Cabin Connect

Though only available on select trims (Limited, Limited Bronze Edition, Touring, Onyx, and Onyx Edition Touring), the Cabin Connect feature allows you to talk to rear passengers without turning your head. Just push the button to send your voice to the rear speakers.

SUBARU STARLINK® Safety and Security Services

Subaru didn’t skimp on incorporating technology to ensure the driver and passenger’s safety by adding the SUBARU STARLINK® Safety and Security System. Should an accident occur, you only need to push a button to send an Advanced Automatic Collision Notification and SOS Emergency Assistance to an operator.

Plus, with the STARLINK app, you can check your vehicle status, request roadside assistance, and remotely locate your vehicle. All new owners of the Subaru Ascent will receive a trial subscription to these services to test these features.

Standard Systems That Work Behind the Scenes

One thing that makes the 2025 Subaru Ascent stand out from the other SUVs in the market is its seamless safety support. There’s the Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive that provides better grip and balance when driving on slick or snowy roads.

It also has a Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC) to prevent skidding. It works by adjusting the power to the wheels when it senses a loss of traction.

Other safety support features that help keep the Ascent stable and road-ready include:

  • 4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS)
  • Brake Assist
  • Brake Override System
  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

The Subaru Ascent also has passive safety features to protect children when riding in the back seat.

The LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHildren) system makes it easier to install car seats by using built-in metal anchors between seat cushions and tether points at the back of the seats. It ensures a secure and firm car seat installation with minimal movement.

Rear child-safety locks, on the other hand, use small manual switches at the edge of the rear doors to prevent kids from accidentally opening them from the inside.

You can also include optional accessories like a First Aid Kit containing practical supplies for treating minor injuries on the road.

Why the 2025 Ascent Has Your Back

Safety shouldn’t feel like an upgrade—it should be the standard. That is exactly why the 2025 Subaru Ascent delivers, giving you trustworthy features from the first trim up.

With tools like Emergency Stop Assist and Reverse Automatic Braking already built in, every drive feels more secure and less stressful. After all, the best kind of safety is the kind you don’t have to think about.
