Each year, Rimrock Subaru donates their time and their efforts to Family Service by raising funds through their Share the Love Event. This year, Rimrock Subaru capped their donation funds at $25,394, raising over $4,000 dollars more than the previous year and four times more than their first year contributing just four years ago.

During the annual Family Service, employees from Rimrock Subaru raise money for the agency to help combat poverty. They also collect food and clothing donations to contribute to the agency.

Dave Pygott, the Denver zone president of Subaru caught wind of the event and attended the breakfast and presentation to show support for the efforts.

Ernie Lee, the chief administrative officer and partner of Rimrock Subaru, presents their check to Family Service each year, but believes this is more than just a simple check, rather, it is a relationship. Their goal is to spread the message of the Family Service and their efforts across Southeastern Montana.

Thanks to contributions from Rimrock Subaru and other companies alike, Family Service was able  to distribute 1.3 million pounds of food to over 9,100 households. This covered $71,000 in rent or utility assistance and provided 77,000 pieces of clothing.

Rimrock Subaru donated $21,046 to Family Service Inc. during its volunteer appreciation breakfast at the Billings Depot. This is the third year of contributions resulting from the dealership's months-long Share the Love Event.

Roughly 300 of about 650 Subaru dealerships across the country participated. Customers who bought or leased a car from Nov. 19 to Jan. 2 chose to donate $250 to a charitable organization at no extra expense, said Ernie Lee, chief administrative officer and partner at Rimrock Auto Group.

Customers could choose from five organizations. Dealerships supported Make-A-Wish Foundation, ASPCA, Meals on Wheels and National Park Foundation. They also selected one local charity.

Lee said Rimrock chose Family Service Inc. three years ago because they had worked with them in the past. He knew their mission and their goal to assist people most in need in Yellowstone County.

"Ultimately it's about selling cars," Lee said. "But know what? If we don't have a healthy community, a vibrant community, nobody is going to be buying cars."

Last year, Rimrock Subaru presented Family Service with a check for about $12,000. Lee said the large increase this year is a result of the sales team better understanding the organization's mission and doing a better job relating it to customers.

Family Service Inc. provides children with backpacks when their families can't afford them. Volunteers deliver food to senior citizens in need, distribute holiday meals and provide food boxes to about 8,000 people. Rent and utility assistance is also available to low-income families struggling to make ends meet.

"We make about 170 to 200 sandwiches a week for St. Vincent de Paul," said Stacy Brown, Family Service's executive director. "We used to make sandwiches and give them out, but we realized rather than try to duplicate the program why not collaborate."

Brown said the $21,000 donation will make a lot of sandwiches.

Rimrock Subaru of Billings recently announced the results of its "Share The Love" winter campaign to support Billings' own Family Service, Inc. Subaru of America will be presenting a check for $12,189 to Family Service, Inc. staff and directors at the Billings Depot, April 15, 2015. Family Service, Inc. works to prevent homelessness and alleviate poverty in Yellowstone County. They assist struggling families with basic needs, including food, clothing, rent and utilities. They also offer special services - such as emergency prescription assistance and vision care assistance - that help vulnerable children, adults and senior citizens.

The money was raised during Subaru of America's 7th annual "Share the Love" event, during which each customer who bought or leased a new Subaru had the opportunity to designate a $250 donation from Subaru to charity. Five national charities were selected by Subaru of America, and individual Subaru retailers were allowed to add a sixth charity from their local community.

Rimrock Subaru partnered with Family Service, Inc., a decision clearly embraced by the dealership's customer base. More than a third of Rimrock Subaru's customers chose to designate Subaru's donation to Family Service, Inc., resulting in a fundraising success that exceeded expectations.

"Family Service has operated in Billings for more than 100 years."Said Executive Director, Stacy Brown.
"Generous donors and volunteers are vital partners in our work, making it possible to provide help, preserve dignity and instill hope among our neighbors in need."

"This was the second year that Subaru asked dealers to choose a hometown charity option, and we were excited to again partner with Family Service Inc.," said Ernie Lee, Owner/Partner of Rimrock Subaru. "Family Service Inc. changes lives, and helps stop the cycle of homelessness in our community. Our customers appreciate that, and they had no problem helping to support the Family Service mission."

Subaru of America officials have said they expect to donate over $15 million to charities in 2015 as part of the 2014 "Share the Love" campaign, which has provided nearly 50 million in donations over the last seven years.

Rimrock Subaru, owned by Lee and his wife, Kelly; John and Ann Soares and Steve Zabawa and his wife Susan Sullivan, has been in business at 324 S. 24th St W in Billings since 2002.
